Frequently-Asked Questions
From the hearts of over 1,000 families we’ve walked alongside.
If you’re here, you might be feeling lost, uncertain, overwhelmed - or simply trying to make sense of something that isn’t supposed to make sense.
Below are some of the questions we’ve been asked, not just once or twice, but hundreds of times by families just like yours. We answer them here, gently and honestly, with the same care we’d offer if you were in our living room.
-
You’re not alone in feeling that.
The very first step is to pause and breathe. If someone has passed away, you can call us anytime, 24/7, and we’ll gently guide you through what to do next, one step at a time. You don’t need to have it all figured out.
If you're planning ahead, we can walk you through that too, calmly, without pressure.
-
Call us.
Once we know where your loved one is and what has happened, we take care of the practical steps with dignity and care. We’ll liaise with the hospital, the coroner (if required), or the aged care facility.
You won’t be alone for a moment of it.
-
This is such a fair question, and it’s one of the most common we hear.
A funeral brings together many services: transportation, legal paperwork, venue hire, staff time, celebrants, cremation or burial fees, florals, music, and more. It’s not just one thing, it’s a collective of meaningful parts.
At Embrace Funerals, we lay out every cost transparently and clearly, with no hidden fees. You’ll know what you’re paying for, and why. We’re one of the few funeral homes in Adelaide that publishes pricing up front, because we believe honesty matters.
-
It’s okay not to know.
Sometimes families come in with very clear wishes. Sometimes, they’ve never had the conversation, and they’re unsure what’s right. We start by listening, to your memories, to the way they lived, to what matters to you now. From there, we help shape something personal, whether it’s traditional, modern, simple, spiritual, cultural, or something entirely different.
There’s no one-size-fits-all. There’s just what feels right for you.
-
That’s more common than you might think.
We offer everything from quiet, family-only gatherings, to garden ceremonies, beachside farewells, or no service at all. We can arrange direct cremations, memorials weeks after, or anything in between.
We don’t believe in “should”…We believe in what’s meaningful — for your family, not someone else’s expectations.
-
Not many. We’ll guide you through all the paperwork — from the death certificate to cremation or burial permits.
You won’t need to chase forms or government offices. We handle it with dignity, care, and accuracy.
-
Yes, and we do so with deep respect.
We’ve supported Buddhist, Catholic, Hindu, Orthodox, Jewish, Islamic, and non-denominational families, among many others. We’ll work with your family, your clergy or spiritual leader, or your cultural customs, and honour them fully.
-
Absolutely, in fact, we insist on it.
We provide full breakdowns of every service: what’s included, what’s optional, and what it costs. If something doesn’t fit your needs or budget, we’ll help find a way to honour your person without upselling or pressure.
We don’t do standard packages. We do real, tailored farewells, and we’re upfront about how we make that possible.
-
You can call us right now.
We’ll answer. We’ll help. We’ll gently begin. That’s what we’re here for.
-
We’re not part of a chain.
We’re not salespeople.
We’re a small, deeply human funeral home, run by people who sit with you, not above you.
We’ve helped over a thousand families, and we’ve heard it again and again: “You made this feel human. You made us feel heard.”
We’re here to make this hard thing just a little bit softer. That’s what makes us different.
